Chevin Forest Buildings – have your say!

Leeds City Council are currently undertaking a council-wide review of their building stock which includes the buildings up at the White House. These buildings include the Education Room and the café building.

It is our understanding that LCC may be looking to enter into leasing arrangements for groups using the buildings. There has been much concern in recent years about the under use particularly of the Education Room and that organisations and projects have applied to utilise the buildings and then been refused. Otley Chevin Orchard Project (OCOP) and Friends of Chevin Forest (FoCF), together with Chevin Forest School use the Education Room regularly and in fact would not be able to operate if we were unable to use the Education Room.

We are aware that there is considerable community interest in keeping the buildings, in particular, The Education Room, for local use and Otley Town Council (OTC), OCOP, and FoCF have been in talks to develop a local plan.

We are now in constructive contact with relevant LCC officers and this survey is to determine what local interest there is in being able to use the buildings up at The White House in order that we can develop a local plan that is a viable option to present to LCC.

We’d be grateful if you could discuss potential usage in your group and let us know about your ideas by filling in our form: https://forms.gle/r83kcNhTGDXNA2vr8
