Get Involved
The Friends of Chevin Forest are all volunteers and we always need new faces to help us to keep going.
There are many different ways you can help us:
Practical Conservation tasks – we meet once per month on the second Sunday to carry out important estate maintenance tasks such as dry stone walling, orchard pruning, scrub clearance etc. All you need is enthusiasm and sturdy boots. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. A pair of gloves awaits. Please check the notice boards for a list of the tasks we will be carrying out and when.
Please contact Emma Towers, Countryside Ranger, for more information:
Chevin Through Time – we have started to research the history of The Chevin but need more volunteers who can help fill in the gaps in our knowledge. If you have visited the Timelines section and think you can help improve it or if you would like to be involved in researching the history of The Chevin let us know .
The Friends of Chevin Forest have occasional meetings to discuss any upcoming projects. Our committee is small but we would like more people to join us – particularly useful would be someone who could take on the role of publicising the group by writing press releases and putting up posters in local places.
Developing lists of flora and fauna to be found on The Chevin – we want to develop a listings that people can contribute to. if you would like to be involved in this project, please get in touch.
Photographs – we keep an archive of photos relating to The Chevin and would welcome any photographs (old or new) from anyone who thinks they might have something unusual to show us.
Admin type activities – we are maintaining a record of press releases and photos at The White House but need someone who can keep our records up-to-date by scanning articles and putting them in our archive albums.
Business Sponsorship – we are always willing to accept sponsorship to fund our activities! If you are able to contribute to the costs in return for a page advertisement please get in touch. We also have to pay annual web-hosting costs for this website and would welcome a sponsor to cover this.
Donations – we are an independent community group dedicated to looking after The Chevin. If you would like to make a donation to our group you can do so via our Crowd Funding page: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/FoCF; all donations will be used to benefit this fantastic place for future generations to enjoy. Funding we receive will allow us to continue to offer events free of charge and to develop new activities.
