Accessibility
Wheelchair access
There are many tracks that cross The Chevin, but not all are accessible for wheelchair use. Surprise View has a wheelchair access ramp that allows wheelchairs up to experience this fantastic viewpoint over the lower Wharfe Valley. Scooters and powered wheelchairs can also go east along this ridge path for about 400 metres but will have to return the same way.
Mobility scooter access
If you have your own mobility scooter or electric powered wheelchair one of the best places to explore is the Heritage Time Trail. The most suitable car park is Lower Shawfield which has gaps in the post-and-rail timber fence that are wide enough to pass through onto Chippendale Ride.
Pushchairs
Many of the paths are uneven and steep and the accessible paths are listed above.
Changing Places
A fully accessible toilet with overhead hoist and changing bed is available in the Education Building next to the café at The White House and can be used during café opening hours.
Key can be obtained from the café.
Access via Johnny Lane (LS21 3JL) off Birdcage Walk, Otley. Follow tarmac road round to small car park at The White House. Please note there are cobbles around The Education Building.
